Walk for Wenjack

The Walk for Wenjack is a school-wide event that honors Chanie Wenjack, a young Indigenous boy who ran away from residential school and sadly never made it home. Students walk together to learn about his story, reflect on Canada’s history, and take steps toward truth and reconciliation by showing care, respect, and a commitment to doing better together.

Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day, held on September 30th (but recognized on September 29th due to the statutory holiday on the 30th), honors the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and forced into Canada’s residential school system. It’s a day of remembrance, reflection, and a commitment to truth and reconciliation—symbolized by the orange shirt, which represents the loss of identity, culture, and dignity experienced by survivors.
